All paperwork was completed this year for the Nest/Egg Destruction on Barnes Lake.  Goose Busters was able to come out and get 9 nests and 50 eggs.  Due to the presence of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Michigan the DNR has suspended the Goose Round-Up.  Relocation of Canada geese has the risk of transporting HPAI around the state and facilitating the spread of the virus.

As a resident of Barnes Lake, it is highly recommended that you refrain from feeding the geese, put up fencing or barriers to keep them off your property, and use scare techniques such as flags, reflective tape, and harassment.

Thank you and have a great summer!

  1. Good Morning: My quick question is: IS THIS HPAI transmittable to humans from goose droppings, or merely contact with the geese? Thank you for keeping us informed. Judy Kanasty
