By-Law Revision 2025 by Pam Reid

Attached you will find the revised Draft By-Laws.  They were approved June 4th by the BLC.   These By-Laws will be voted on by the Members at the Annual Meeting held on July 12 at 10:00am, Deerfield Township Hall, 30, Burnside Road.

The attached By-Laws were created by a 5 person By-Law Committee and reviewed by a third party attorney located in Almont.  All of the comments and recommendations by the attorney were used in revising and adding information to this document.

In approving the draft in last night’s meeting, there was a point of discontentment from two committee members, later became three after the By-Laws were submitted to the BLC for Wednesday’s meeting.   The reason for the discontentment was due to one sentence being removed, which is as follows:

” To preserve segregation of roles, responsibilities and duties, a Director on the BLC Improvement Board is not eligible to simultaneously be a member of Barnes Lake Improvement Board ”  These By Law committee members felt very strongly that the restriction should not be removed.

Another By-Law Committee Member put it best why this should not be in BLC By-Laws, in writing:

” I don’t believe that we should/can limit the make-up of another organizations board of directors, and since the members of the BLC have the ability to elect whomever we see fit to the BLC Board of Directors we don’t need to address this particular issue in the ByLaws”

For these reasons the BLC board approved the By-Laws presented to you today without the restriction.

Please take time to read the By Laws prior to the July 12th meeting.

Respectfully yours,

Pam Reid
